CAREER STATEMENT

                                                         CAREER STATEMENT

My vision is to become a professor in Mechanical Engineering and impact to my society through teaching, training and research

                                                                                                      MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I chose the teaching path in engineering because I wanted to play a role in shaping the humanity and profession of the young people in the world. My philosophy is that every subject viewpoint of my individual students is important and should be explored for the betterment of the engineering and technology profession. I strive to give every students’ idea attention and the necessary mentor-ship to cultivate their variant professional and academic interests.

To achieve the above, I cultivate interactive teaching during my lecture sessions. For example, during teaching of machine design and materials courses to fourth year class in my current university, I encourage students to individually come up with theoretical design projects. The students then go ahead to work on those projects and strictly make presentations to me (one-on-one) twice per week. This way, the students can develop viable projects for their final year dissertations. Additionally, in my teaching I incorporate the technology necessary in the various engineering sector to fully prepare my students for the industry. This way, I encourage use of various software, modern machines and processes such as automation, robotics and computer programming in my assignments and tutorials. Finally, I avail myself to my students for consultations and discussions as scheduled or on need basis.

In conclusion, although the purpose of engineering curriculum is to prepare the students as future engineers, technology experts, employees/employers and so forth, I encourage community-hood in my classes to cultivate in them the sense of compassionate and humanity. This way, my students leave the university as holistic human beings, as individual who can work with both machines and other people.
